New Feature Notification

New Feature
Gate & Signal Design Actions

Gates and Signals work together to allow different processes to communicate with one another.

A process can have a Gate Action that waits for an event (Signal) to happen in another process.

Similar to a Delay action, a Gate puts a process into a holding pattern. However, unlike a delay, a Gate does not require a predefined set time for release and it can be triggered by a Signal from another process.

For example, many instances of a billing process can be waiting for an "End of Month" event. When the accountant's closing process completes, it can send the "End of Month" Signal allowing all of the waiting processes to continue; releasing the Gate.

Customer Announcement

SEEGRID Corporation chooses HighOrbit to automate their Human Resource and Accounting departments

HighOrbit Corporation has signed SEEGRID Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA as a client. Seegrid, the leader in mobile material handling robotics, works to help businesses be more productive and efficient in the physical world.

The company currently uses HighOrbit's Business Process Management (BPM) automation solution to streamline processes for PTO (paid time off) and other related vacation requests. In addition, the company is in the process of developing a second workflow to streamline and support purchase orders received from customers.

According to Greg Valentine, vice president of business development, Seegrid initially wanted to be sure that manual processes like vacation requests were automated to ensure simplicity and accuracy. "Since we have two primary offices in Pittsburgh and Boston, including employees working remotely, we wanted to eliminate faxes in an effort to make our payroll activities more efficient," he said. "We're currently developing a sales process that fosters a timely information flow between sales, accounting and manufacturing. The HighOrbit workflow solution gives us the ability to follow up internally prior to shipment to ensure all the pieces are in place and no operational steps are omitted. Plus, we have many other internal processes on the docket for implementation on the horizon. We're very happy with this product."

According to HighOrbit's Brian Dwyer, the company's Workflow Automation Solution was developed to give companies greater control over the individual processes they rely on for the successful operation of their business. Clients use the web-based software solution for a diverse set of business processes from human resource management to sales, accounting and IT. "Businesses of any size or shape can benefit from the advantages of workflow automation, including: accountability, control and efficiency," he said.
